Dr. Minoru Ono is the Professor and Chairman of the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery at the University of Tokyo. He has also been engaged in cooperative work between the University Hospital and the School of Engineering at the University of Tokyo as the Professor of the Research Institute of Biomedical Science and Engineering.
He has been a member of Board of Directors at JATS since 2016, and is the Congress Chair in Cardiac Surgery Section at the Annual Meeting of JATS 2026. He has been elected as an active member at AATS since 2018. He has been the Secretary General of the Asian Society for Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery since 2023, and the President of the Japanese Society for Cardiovascular Surgery since 2024. He has also been the International Director for the Society of Thoracic Surgeons since 2024.
Dr. Ono’s clinical focus in adult cardiac surgery includes mitral valve surgery and surgery for advanced heart failure, such as heart transplantation and ventricular assist device.
